What is Code Compliance Inspection?

Ohio requires private water systems to meet specific construction and safety standards. Our compliance inspections verify that your well and water system are constructed and maintained according to state regulations, local health department requirements, and best practices.

Standards We Verify

  • Well location setbacks (minimum isolation distances from septic systems, chemical storage, livestock facilities)

  • Well casing type, size and material specifications

  • Sanitary well cap installation and condition

  • Well identification and depth documentation via ODNR well log data search

  • Proper abandonment of old wells (if applicable)

  • Water pressure and flow capabilities

Compliance Inspection Components

Site Assessment

  • Measure distances from potential contamination sources (septic, tanks, agricultural operations)

  • Verify well location on property

  • Assess surface drainage and flooding potential

  • Document environmental hazards or nearby risks

System Performance Testing

  • Measure flow rate (minimum requirements: Ideal minimum target is 5 GPM / 60 Minutes

  • Test water pressure and system response

  • Document pump type, pump data if possible

  • Home owners, home buyers and realtors requiring regulatory approval

  • Property transfers where compliance verification is required

  • Systems flagged by health departments for compliance issues 

  • Proactive owners personal education – System updating for regulatory compliance

Payable prior to or at the time of testing

 

Includes System Performance Test, Flow Testing, & Lab Analysis Report.

 

*Distance traveled and site specific requirements, specific lab tests determine pricing

Field inspection (1–3 hours) 

  • Water sample report with findings delivered based upon test performed, typically 2-10 days dependent upon lab processing time of specific tests required.
